Leather Crafter

Copyright or trademark infringement ...?

Being a craftsman of leather and Leather Tool, would it be considered as an author or trademark infringement, if I was the tool of some images, such as characters, or actors faces in leather? Let's use simply an example of a character like Crocodile Dundee or an actor like John Wayne. These images are more like silhouettes rather than being faithful nature. I think that would be similar to the mark in the cartoon? These items are not mass produced, but if I had to find in such a sale? Any info to this subject would be very useful and appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It would probably not be considered a breach of copyright -- you would be making a very original and probably not a derivative work. Neither, in the case of a man, would it affect a brand (although it would probably trademark infringement for a cartoon character). However, it would violate their right to publicity and / or privacy, and some states He is also a right to control the use of his image in advertising.
