Will a bullet penetrate a body deeper if it shot from farther away?
I am not a crazy person, promise.
I ask because my friends and I were watching Snapped and they were discussing the depth of the wound, so we were confused. It was my friend's impression that a bullet shot from farther away will penetrate deeper because the bullet would have more speed upon entry. My first thought was that a bullet shot at point-blank range would penetrate farther because it hasn't lost speed from air resistance, but now I can kinda see both arguments.
So, does any one know which theory is correct? And why?
Absolutely not. A bullet begins to lose speed the instant it leaves the barrel due to wind resistance. You are correct.
