What's the point of North Korean people learning English?
I've watched a documentary called "North Korea: a day in the life" and there was this scene where some students are attending an English class.
If the North Korean government is gonna cut off from the rest of the world, why would their people have to study it?
Brian's answer may not be that far off the mark. How far reaching their spying is can only be speculated upon. However, there are definitely times when North Korea conducts talks with other nations, and at these times they will need translators. (Why would they trust those imperialist pigs' translators?)
Also, our officials have been known from time to time to put out statements regarding their country. So, they may just take their best English speaking guys to do this kind of work.
