How can I tell if the Louis Vuitton purse my mother bought me is authentic?
I know it's an older modle because I've seen the newer modles in Bazaar Mag. On the out side it is black leather with the colored LV symbols, it is lined with tan suede and it has a stamped leather patch on the inside of the purse that says (R) [the parenthesis are supposed to be a circle] LOUIS VUITTON PARIS made in France.
Assuming the bag was purchased new (as opposed to from e-bay etc.) then the ONLY place to buy authentic is directly from the Louis Vuitton boutiques. This is because LV does NOT wholesale their items. With that said, this is the way that EVERY Louis Vuitton bag is packed with every sale (and this is the way your mom would have given it to you): handbag placed inside a soft tan "sleeper" with Louis Vuitton printed on it. Then it is placed inside a very heavy duty dark brown box with Louis vuitton printed on it in brown. Then it is tied in leather ribbon or satin LV ribbon. THEN it is placed inside a large brown bag that matches the inner box...brown with brown louis vuitton written on it.
