Does anyone have a problem with Brother electronic products?
I bought a Multi Function Bother printer in September of 2005, installed it and everything worked fine. January 2006, all of a sudden it won't read my memory cards. I uninstall it and reinstall it, and now a message pops up that says it does not pass Windows Logo Testing (we have Windows XP). After I reinstalled it still won't read the memory cards and most of the time there is an "error" when I want it to print a normal document. Most recently I have been trying to print notes on PowerPoint slides for my class, and it's taking forever to send to the printer. I see it "spooling", then "printing" it says "deleting" then "spooling" again then "printing" then error.
Also, something else that's ridiculous is that it would not print a Word document in black and white if one of the color ink cartridges was empty. What does a color ink cartridge being empty have to do with printing something in black and white?
Get new printer, or is something wrong with USB Port?
All newer printers do that annoying thing where they will not print with one empty cartridge. You don't think you are using the colours in black printing, however you are. The colours are used to darken and sharpen the black.
The memory card issue, totally a brother issue. I would just pick up a $15 card reader. This is why I strongly advise against all in one units, one component always goes. However chances are that you still have a perfectly good fax/printer/copier.
The spooling issue isn't going to go away with a new printer, that is a windows issue. Update your version of XP.
