Pieces Leather

where can i buy pieces of leather as in hide to make stuff with?

I am looking for leather so i can make some items for my kids

I am a designer and I produce a (very) small line of clothes. My favourite source for leather is: (drum roll): Second hand, vintage and thrift stores. Ta-Da! And it's much cheaper than buying large hides. For small craft items thrift stores are a great source of leather clothing that can be taken apart and recycled. The garments are cleaned before selling, the leather is already softened by age and wear, yet still sturdy and durable enough for small craft items. I make regular trips to goodwill for leather and suede skirts, pants, and jackets which get taken apart and used as embellishment and trim in some of my denim line. I often ask if they can set aside ripped, torn, faded and unsellable leather which I can then buy in bulk by the pound.

If you want new leather then michael's craft stores have some leather available as small squares and rectangles along with suede and leather lacing, rivets, etc.

Finally, Tandy Leather Craft has a website and they sell on line and through various outlets across the US.
