Therapy Leather
Umm leather products? (new saddle)?
so i just purchased a new HDR equ saddle and im looking for leather care to clean it with. the girls at my barn use leather therapy and effax creme soap.but they have had their saddles longer and im not sure if i could use products that are meant to recondition a saddle to make it look newer. So can i use leather therapy or effax products for my new saddle? Thanks so much :]
As said, new leather does not need cleaning. Besides, the sealer finish will not allow oil (or anything else) to penetrate properly.
Original formula LEXOL, mixed 60% Lexol-40% water, applied with a sponge from the flesh side of the flaps and stirrup leathers will supple and moisturize the leather. If you apply from the grain side, you'll get water spotting.
Because your saddle just came off the shelf and to you is brand new, is not an indicator of how old it is. It could easily be a couple of years since it was made. It can be a lot drier than you may think.
Flip it over and check. It's probably a little bit thirsty. Lexol also makes an excellent cleaner. I've used and recommended Lexol for more than 40 years.
